I have to make a quick correction, I was under the impression that the clip was to be filmed at Central Station, turns out it was Olympic Park... my bad
And for those who aren't newspaper, an article was posted

Article reads...

Fans in the frame as Silverchair lays it on the line
By Stephen Downie
This is what Silverchair fans have been waiting for – the rock band's first video clip in nearly four years.
The Newcastle act shot the video for their new single Straight Lines at Olympic Park train station last week.
In the clip the trio – singer/guitarist Daniel Johns, drummer Ben Gillies and Bassist Chris Joannou – thrash out their new song on a makeshift stage.
The video also features 40 fans, all of whom were the first to reply when an invite to appear in the clip was posted on the band's website.
The video was directed by Paul Goldman and Alice Bell, who respectively directed and wrote the screenplay for gritty Aussie film Suburban Mayhem, which dominated the recent AFI Award nominations.
Goldman has also made video clips for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Elvis Costello and Nick Cave.
Straight Lines is Silverchair's first single since 2003's Across The Night, from the Diorama album. The new song will be released early next year.
It will be followed by the band's fifth studio album, Young Modern – likely to go on sale in April. Fans will be delighted to hear new material following their ARIA awards performance.

And picture...Collapse )

And the news keeps coming...
So it appears that the first Silverchair single will be 'Straightlines'. It appears to be one of the five new working titles that the boys have been playing at gigs this year. This is the song that was filmed at Central Station last week. The release date will be something like January, although details are sketchy.
Did anyone go to the shoot? Did anyone become an extra?
We'd love to hear from you!

Sydneysiders LISTEN UP!
A message for anyone in the Sydney/Newcastle area...

Next Thursday November 16 Silverchair will be filming the video for the first single from their forthcoming album, YOUNG MODERN.

The video's director is looking for extras to be filmed on the day for inclusion in the video. If you are keen to be involved you need to be over 18 y.o. You will also need to make your own way to the location which is on a major railway line 30 minutes from Sydney's Grand Central station.

Arrival time is 4pm sharp and it is estimated you will be required for 3 hours. If you live in Sydney and want to participate please contact us at by Tuesday November 14 with your name and mobile number. We will then contact you direct to advise further details. Oh and you're welcome to bring a friend on the day too!

(this means do NOT ask us what the first single will be either)

So it appears another year in ARIA history is over. Congratulations to Bernard Fanning and Wolfmother for well deserved awards. If you haven't checked Chairpage then you'll find videos of interviews and photos from Silverchair, behind the scenes and paying homage to the great Midnight Oil. But in the meantime I brought in the footage from YouTube.

Maintain the rage!

Stop, no wait...
Hey fellow chairheaders!

Sorry that I haven't been updating as often as I used to. I've been pretty busy planning my arrival back home to Oz. Being in NY sometimes doesn't afford me all the timely information I get in the land of Silverchair, but I pass on what I can.
So... what has happened?

First of all for anyone who's been following the progress will notice little mini movies arriving on chairpage, during the pre-mix stage of the album recording down in 301 studios. For those who haven't visited the site in a while, you'll find a list of them here
Then it was off to do a handful of festival gigs during March and April. Great reviews seem to be following the handful of festival and secret gigs that the boys performed in that time. In my travels I discovered some amazing shots from a photographer by the name of Daniel Boud during the Great Escape festival. While you're going through the photos don't forget to give the man some love.

Then the 'chair revealed some more dates, Sydney's own Homebake, The Pyramid Festival, and then NYE at one of my old watering holes 'Queen Wharf Brewery', Newcastle. You have no idea how pissed I am at missing that one. They sold out in record time!

Just a few months back the guys headed to a little studio in LA to record the album in full. Once the tracks were done, Ben and Chris headed home and Daniel headed to Prague to hook up with Van Dyke Parks to record some orchestral elements on 3 songs. Then Daniel headed back to LA to begin the mixing, adding a few additional layers of his own.

Then word started flying about that the album release was going to be delayed from the date co-inciding with the Homebake gig, towards January, then further delays towards April next year. Why you might ask?

Well it's been revealed that during the mixing stage producer Nick Launay (Freakshow) and Daniel parted citing "musical differences". So it appears Nick's off doing another job, and the boys are waiting to team up with another engineer to put everything together. So never fear, all the tracks are recorded, and as soon as their desired engineer becomes available the album will be complete. It's just a matter of time.

It had also been leaked that the title of the album will be... "Young Modern"

Since that time the boys have focused more on playing, and it has been announced that during the ARIA awards at the end of October, as part of ARIA's Hall of Fame award, Silverchair will be doing a tribute to the one and only 'Midnight Oil'. Should be definitely one to watch. More dates have been announced next year, no tour has been scheduled just yet.

Needless to say, it's been quite an eventful time for everyone involved. So please, thoughts? feelings? How do you think everything will turn out. I personally just love it when you get to see a completely raw impression of what Silverchair have in mind, because at this point, I have complete faith in their musical direction. Hopefully when I get back to Oz after Christmas I can once again write about their performances first hand. Until that time, hope to hear from everybody, and more updates as they come to hand!
